Our God is representative of my interest in the use of stereotypes (both musical and nonmusical) to generate the material and subject matter of a piece. In this particular case, the idea was to take some of the more recognizable or historically based analog gestures of electronic music, such as frequency modulation and filtered white noise, and pit them against a musique concrete source that would supply the subject matter by reflecting a stereotyped faction of society (specifically, TV evangelism). The result is a sort of duet between man and machine in which one constantly reacts to the other.
